A Tradição Judaico-cristã conforme Christopher Dawson em a “Formação da Cristandade”. Parte II 

O relato histórico-teológico trazido por Dawson em seu livro “A formação da Cristandade”, conforme a primeira parte do nosso estudo acerca de como se formou aquela tradição e estrutura,
ressalta a sequência histórica da tradição judaico-cristã que viria a fundamentar o Ocidente, sua cultura e moral. Uma estrutura calcada na Revelação de Deus, uma Aliança com um povo guiado por profetas, depois na Encarnação e, hoje, na Igreja.

Estrutura essa que depois de sucessivas rupturas filosóficas e teológicas, boa parte do Ocidente e do mundo, a Europa por exemplo, teimam em negar. Rejeitar, pois, os fundamentos daquilo que lhe dá razão e sentido pode ser suicídio intelectual, moral e espiritual, podendo pôr em risco a própria civilização.

 Já dizia T.S. Eliot a esse respeito:

“Pode-se ser eclético em suas ideias, porém não se tem tanta liberdade a ponto de escolher seus ancestrais.”

The Judeo-Christian Tradition according to Christopher Dawson in the "Formation of Christianity". Part II

The historical-theological account brought by Dawson in his book "The formation of Christianity", according to the first part of our study about how that tradition and structure was formed,

emphasizes the historical sequence of the Judeo-Christian tradition that would come to base the West, its culture and morals. A structure based on the Revelation of God, a Covenant with a people guided by prophets, then in the Incarnation and, today, in the Church.

A structure that, after successive philosophical and theological disruptions, much of the West and the world, Europe for example, insist on denying. Rejecting, therefore, the fundamentals of what gives it reason and meaning can be intellectual, moral and spiritual suicide, which can put civilization itself at risk.

It already said T.S. Eliot in this regard:


"You can be eclectic in your ideas, but you don't have so much freedom to choose your ancestors."
